The IA works in collaboration with the Senior Investment Manager under the supervision of the Fund Manager. The IA is the primary dealmaker and provider of Business Development Assistance (BDA) to investee SMEs and should have proven hands-on experience in business development and financial transaction work, especially in the areas of business analysis & diagnostics, risk analysis and deal structuring for SMEs. The IA also requires skills in client relationship management, consulting, business turn-around, marketing, accounting, and credit management. In addition to actual investment/credit and or SME business development experience, the IA at least must have a good working knowledge of Ghana based financial customs and norms.

The Responsibilities of the IA Include:

  • Sourcing, originating and structuring transactions
  • Delivering initial BDA and assisting clients draft bankable business plans or developing bankable business plans
  • Drafting risk-focused finance reports
  • Managing investment legal implementation and disbursements.
  • General marketing of the firm’s products and services
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers/stakeholders
  • Building fruitful relationships with deal sourcing networks such as banks, consultants, donors, business associations and relevant governmental institutions
  • Developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with existing clients, to generate repeat and/or networked business opportunities
  • Provision of post finance BDA to investee companies.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Investment Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration; Finance; Accounting; Statistics; Mathematics; Economics; Entrepreneurship; Agribusiness/Agriculture; Industrial Engineering.
  • Supply Chain Management with an MBA or MS in Finance preferable
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Business Development and or SME Finance/Credit
  • Experience in an agro-processing or manufacturing company a plus.
  • Completion of the Ghana Stock Exchange training courses a plus.

The SIM leads and support investment team in deal sourcing, deal execution and at all stages of the diligence process under the supervision of the Fund Manager. He/she shall be responsible for evaluating and screening investment opportunities for both their commercial prospects and their impact; develop and manage relationships with top venture firms, incubators, and accelerators to identify compelling teams for investment.

The Responsibilities of the SIM Include:

  • Deal Sourcing: Actively help lead the identification of new investment opportunities by overseeing and conducting extensive market research to identify new investment trends, and by building relationships with entrepreneurs; screening potential deals on behalf of the firm.
  • Due Diligence: Supervise due diligence throughout the investment process, including financial, operational, and market diligence, conduct calls with references and industry experts, and perform in-depth business plan evaluation; engage and manage external service providers.
  • Deal Execution: Help manage end-to-end process of deal execution, including negotiations; supervise creation of complex financial models, valuation analysis, investment memos, board materials and other presentations; coordinate internal and external parties, and ensure tracking against timelines.
  • Portfolio Management: Help manage the ongoing relationships with existing portfolio companies in order to help them achieve ambitious growth plans on the path to substantial value creation; monitoring and administration of the portfolio on behalf of Client, including managing the fund model to help guide portfolio construction decisions.
  • Financial Analysis and Research: Create complex financial models; perform valuation analysis; scrutinize financial deal terms and structure; analyse KPIs; conduct extensive industry, market and company-specific research.
  • Business Development Assistance: Work closely with portfolio companies and founders to provide post finance BDA and assist them with internal and external partnership opportunities
  • Strategic Thinking: Analyse and develop comprehensive business plans inclusive of growth strategies and financial performance levers; conduct detailed market sizing and competitive landscaping; create presentations with clear recommendations for senior leadership; active thought leadership and problem-solving both internally and on behalf of portfolio companies.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Own reporting and compliance responsibilities, including performance reports and ongoing valuation analysis on the existing portfolio, for the benefit of Client leadership, Board of Directors, LPs, and as part of regulatory requirements.
  • Networking: Develop and manage long-term relationships with new and existing businesses across the start-up eco-system to expand Client’s network and presence in the market as well as building fruitful relationships with deal sourcing networks such as banks, consultants, donors, business associations and relevant governmental institutions
  • Leadership and Team Building: Lead the process for recruiting, training, and development of Analysts and Associates; act as a mentor to junior team members; promote and nurture a positive work team environment and inspire a culture of excellence and community; manage various relationships with professional services providers and other external parties

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

Qualification

  • Advanced degree in related field (MBA, Master of Finance, Supply Chain Management, etc.) or certification (CAIA, CFA)
  • At least 5 years’ directly relevant experience
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Business Development and or SME Finance/Credit
  • Experience in an agro-processing or manufacturing company a plus.
  • Completion of the Ghana Stock Exchange training courses a plus.
